Job Description

Elizabethtown College is seeking applicants for a Director of Educational Field Experiences. The primary purposes of this position are to coordinate, oversee, and maintain successful field placements for Education students and compile data throughout the year to complete state-required reports in compliance with the latest Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification requirements and program guidelines. Also, this position will work 10 months per year full-time.

Job Duties

  • Serve as Certification Officer and liaison to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE)
  • Likewise, develop Field Placement Schedule each semester, which includes full details of all placements – school, teacher, student, contact information, etc.
  • Coordinate transportation to field placements for students, as needed.
  • Serve as direct liaison (for student placements) between the Education Department and all schools including public school districts, intermediate units, private schools, and parochial schools
  • Moreover, meet with school district, intermediate unit, private school, or preschool program leaders to share information and concerns as needed
  • Serve in the role as a mediator with education partners and evaluate education placements for the ability to meet student learning outcomes, make applicable recommendations, and oversee the student experience
  • Similarly, maintain communication and good public relations with all placement sites
  • Draft Affiliation Agreements between partner sites and Elizabethtown College and renew every 5 years, revising if needed
  • Likewise, maintain all field placement handbooks and materials including updating policy and procedures pursuant to department requirements
  • Distribute field placement handbooks and materials for student teaching and field experiences to students, cooperating teachers, college supervisors and professors
  • Also, keep records of evaluations completed on cooperating teachers and College Supervisors
  • Track performance of college supervisor evaluations and provide copies of evaluations to college supervisors
  • Additionally, review student progress and addresses any problems that arise, keeping the Program Director
  • Abreast of concerns and any remediation plans

Non-Essential Function

  • Attend monthly Education Department Faculty and Staff Meetings
  • Respond to student questions related to the department as needed
  • Also, assist in administrative functions, such as sorting and distributing mail, preparing correspondence, answering the phone, copying, faxing, etc. as needed
  • Likewise, conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education plus a minimum of five years’ experience placing college students in schools for work study, field experiences, or student teaching
  • Also, equivalent combination of education and experience.
