CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. Also, the University collaborate with our sponsors and other CSU departments to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations.

Position Summary

Up to three seasonal technician positions are available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position is located in Anchorage, Alaska at Joint Base Elmendorf- Richardson. Position will last 4 months with possibility of extension, dependent on funding. Position start is mid-May 2021 and will end approximately mid-September 2021.

 Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

  • Experience correctly identifying Alaskan vegetation to the species in the field.
  • Likewise, experience using dichotomous keys and multiple field guides to key out vegetation.
  • Additionally, wilderness navigation using GPS and compass
  • Moreover, map creation using ArcMap GIS.
  • B.S. Degree in ecology, natural resource management, botany, forestry or related field.
  • Also, experience identifying avian species or assisting in point count surveys.
  • Experience with small-mammal trapping techniques and trap models
