Description:

Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, acute care, laboratory, pharmacy, optometry, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. Also, the mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. Similarly, SHCS has approximately 180 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Counseling Services (CS) Clinical Director at Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS), this position performs professional patient/client care (individual, group, crisis intervention, and case management) assigned by quarterly clinic schedule. While this position will support all UC Davis students, the focus of this position is to provide counseling services for Chicanx/Latinx clients and provide services in Spanish, when appropriate. Provides campus programs on education, multicultural concerns and prevention, provides supervision and training to Counseling Services trainees in an APA accredited internship and APPIC-member postdoctoral program. Also, works as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualification:

Required:

  • Masters clinical/counseling degree and licensure (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LPCC).
  • Furthermore, fluent in Spanish and experience providing psychotherapy in Spanish.
  • Likewise, experience working with individuals from diverse social, cultural or socio-cultural backgrounds.
  • Moreover, experience working with Chicanx/Latinx clients.
  • Similarly, experience treating diverse clients using short-term models of individual and group psychotherapy/counseling.
  • Current CPR certification or obtain within 90 days.

Preferred:

  • Ability to provide supervision to predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees.
  • Also,  experience working with AB540 and undocumented clients.
  • Experience working in a university counseling service with strong student service orientation.
  • Likewise, knowledge of ethical, legal and university standards and regulations.
