DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Sponsored Research Supervisor, the Sponsored Research Administrator will be responsible for providing financial analysis and fiscal management in both pre and post-award sponsored projects administration for multiple divisions in the Department of Pediatrics, with approximately $4-6 million in annual sponsored project funding sources and 15-30 proposals per year. Each division’s financial management involves multiple PI’s and funding sources. The incumbent will work with numerous funding agencies including, but not limited to NIH, DOD, AHA, ADA, CIRM, JDRF, and other various state, county, private and industry sponsors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area.
  • Also, ability to learn and develop understanding of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Additionally, ability to learn and develop understanding of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
  • Likewise, ability to thrive in a busy, high-volume, and deadline driven work environment that requires coordination of multiple activities and the judgment and flexibility to reprioritize to accommodate emergency requests. Detail oriented.
  • Also, ability to perform routine financial analysis and reporting.
  • Furthermore, proficiency working with computer and information management systems.
  • Moreover, organization and communication skills and customer service focus.
  • Similarly, skill to communicate professionally and effectively with a diverse population of all levels of organization in person. Also, ability to use diplomacy, tact, and discretion in all interactions.
  • Likewise, capable of analyzing financial issues, recognize potential problems, identify creative and alternative solutions and make recommendations. Also, ability to analyze and prepare budgets, identify spending patterns and project future expenditures based on available data.
  • Additionally, ability to work independently. Ability to independently gather information, follow up on projects, and solve problems creatively.
  • Likewise, knowledge of contract and grant proposal formats preparation, submission and administration, as well as federal, state and private granting agency regulations.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Employment is subject to both a criminal background check.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends.
