Position Highlights

The Palanivelu lab is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to use genomic, molecular, genetic, and cell biological tools to characterize heat tolerance in tomato pollen tube growth and precision breed heat-tolerant tomato varieties. Also, the chosen candidate will be part of the Palanivelu lab at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona but will have a great opportunity to be part of a collaborative. Likewise, the post-doctoral researcher will benefit from a supportive collaborative research experience that emphasizes mentoring by an interdisciplinary team of researchers in five laboratories at four institutions examining the genomics of tomato pollen tube growth to generate heat-tolerant tomato varieties.

Duties:

The incumbent must meet the following for Vacancy for Research Associate in the USA:

  • Collection of phenotypic data
  • Moreover, mutant and transgenic plant analysis
  • Generation of CRISPR mutants and analysis
  • Also, protein and molecular genetics analysis of pathways in plants
  • Statistical and bioinformatic analysis of data
  • Likewise, RNA-seq analysis of samples
  • Collaborating with researchers in the lab and the project
  • Furthermore, opportunities to supervise graduate and undergraduate student researchers

  • Preference will be given to a highly motivated, enthusiastic, critical thinking, and independent researcher who has proven research experience in genomics, molecular genetics, and cell biology.
  • Publications from dissertation work demonstrating scientific leadership, management, and completion of projects.
