Position Summary

The Senior Director of East Campus Operations supports Stony Brook Medicine’s strategic mission by developing and overseeing facilities projects, both renovation and expansion projections. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Facilities and is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the project management office, facilities stores, code compliance and construction departments for East Campus Services. Also, this includes managing and coordinating the activities of projects within specific timeframes, developing and adhering to budgets and ensuring that goals and objectives of each project are accomplished within specified timeframes and funding parameters.

Duties:

  • Reviews project goals, quality of work, project schedules and associated project costs to achieve completion of the project within schedule and budget allocations.
  • Oversees time and attendance records for state employees and SFE outside contracted labor staff. This also includes monitoring and approving overtime reports.
  • Also, oversees the management of in-house construction staff as well as SFE labor personnel.
  • Proactive assessments of future needs and solutions as they arise. This also includes overseeing staff development by researching and scheduling pertinent educational and professional development sessions.
  • Moreover, monitors adherence to standards, policies and quality management. This includes ensuring proper documentation, justifications and approvals are processed in accordance with the department’s policies and procedures.
  • Similarly, supervises the daily activities and overall progress of code compliance, enforcement, staffing, daily inspections, drawings review, and code interpretation.
  • implemented in a timely manner.
  • Similarly, reviews and approves procurement paperwork, funding requests, change orders, requests for proposals, and requests for qualifications.
  • Additionally, reviews outside contractor invoices for payments requisitions for projects as per the construction/design contract and schedule of values.
  • Ensures that all, Life Safety inspections are completed for DOH and Joint Commission and OMH requirements and CMS documentation is reviewed and in compliance.

Qualification:

  • Must have the ability to manage and track all Joint Commission, CMS, OMH, inspections and to ensure follow up on regulatory compliance, maintenance requests, new construction/renovation projects requests.
  • The candidate must possess practical hands on experience in the fields of Infection Control, Fire Safety, NFPA, Joint Commission, OSHA and NYS DOH regulations, as well as codes and regulations governing health care facilities.
  • Also, knowledge of facilities planning and construction management processes and procedures including construction materials and latest methods for new construction as well as renovations and alterations to meet best practices and ensure quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of estimating, budgeting, and scheduling practices, including escalation factors and market trends.
  • Moreover, must possess excellent and effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate with different audiences, including high level leadership, design firms, construction vendors and cross level stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards of practice.
  • Similarly, skills in reading and interpreting plans and specifications and to compare them with construction progress.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Additionally, experience in planning, coordinating, administering, and exercising strategic and overall operational controls.
  • Must be a dedicated, reliable and flexible to work evening and weekends
