Summary of Position

Provide infrastructure and system administration services to the central Enterprise Technology & Services organization supporting the teaching, learning, research, and outreach needs of the schools of the University System of New Hampshire.  Also, this role will be part of a team to manage our VMware environment, including associated storage systems, and will also contribute to the deployment and management of Linux-based servers.  Likewise, key responsibilities include monitoring daily operations, configuration and updating the VMware infrastructure, and using centralized tools to set up and manage Linux platform servers to support various application needs.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience in information technology field, Associate’s and eight years, or combination of education and experience equal to ten years.

  • Experience managing VMware-based infrastructure
  • Also, experience with central server and configuration deployment and management technologies
  • Likewise, knowledge of scripting languages such as Unix shell script (Bash), Python, and/or PowerShell
  • Good working knowledge of modern switched, TCP/IP networks

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SaltStack configuration management
  • Furthermore, experience managing central storage infrastructure
  • Knowledge of information security best practices
  • Additionally, familiarity with Lean process improvement practices
  • Experience working in a higher education environment

Duty/Responsibility

Storage and backup management for the enterprise, research and recommendations for storage; and backup solutions, operational responsibility for storage setup, problem solving, and performance management. Duties also include patching or upgrading storage and backup arrays.
