Description:

UNESCO is fully committed to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group(UNSDG) reform launched on 1st January 2019, which intends to improve the UN’s presence in the field in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and SDGs. Also, at the regional level, UNESCO is contributing to the ongoing review of the UN architecture and to the drive to strengthen collaboration between UN regional entities in the field, while adapting to the changes under way from both a structural and programmatic point of view. Likewise, in support to this enhanced need for coordination, and under the direct supervision of the Director of the Cluster Office for the Caribbean, the UN Coordination Officer will provide support and contribute to ensure the full participation of the Kingston Office in the UN development system joint cooperation.

Required Qualification:

The qualification for Vacancy for Coordination Officer in Jamaica are:

  • Education Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in any area of UNESCO’s competencies, international relations, public or business administration, planning, economics or another related field.
  • Also, work Experience Minimum 5 years of professional experience in coordination, planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of activities, projects and/or programs in the Caribbean.

Skills/Competencies

  • Familiarity with UNESCO’s programs, structure and priorities.
  • Also, excellent analytical skills. Proven coordination, planning and organization skills with ability to establish and follow plans and priorities.
  • Likewise, excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to prepare and draft high-quality documents and reports intended for internal and/or external dissemination. Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and to establish good working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Familiarity with the work and general functioning of international organizations and/or knowledge of the United Nations common system.
