Introduction

The joint project “Capacity building of local governments in Santiago (Chile) and Mexico City to strengthen the socioeconomic integration of migrants and refugees through access to decent work, sustainable livelihoods, and social dialogue” seeks to improve migrant and refugee workers’ access to decent work and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring their employability and access to employment opportunities and social protection programs in the municipalities of Mexico City and Santiago.

Summary:

Appointments made under a technical cooperation contract do not confer career expectations in the ILO, an automatic renewal of contracts, or the conversion of the contract with a view to a different type of contract in the Organization. Also, one year fixed-term contract will be awarded. Additionally, the extension of technical cooperation contracts is subject to several conditions including: the availability of funds and the continuing need for the functions performed, as well as satisfactory performance and conduct.

Function:

1.Provide programming and administrative support to cooperation activities in the project.

2.Contact technical officials and counterparties in municipal organizations and services and competent ministries at the national level, executing agencies and partners. Also, government offices, constituents and other organizations, to monitor and accelerate implementation and meet the goals”

3.Likewise, develop terms of reference for project activities and for the recruitment of external collaborators. Moreover, support the development of training materials and provide training to the ILO’s main partners on project issues, in accordance with ILO specifications;

4.Also, work closely with partners/counterparties to design and review the project’s annual work plans.

5. However, review, verify and analyze work plans, progress reports and final reports and other data on clarity, consistency and completeness and monitor the progress of project activities.

6.Similarly, support in the programming and control of project resources; prepare budget estimates and expenditure projections by analyzing and monitoring the resource situation.

Education

  • Required instruction level at least indispensable: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, political science or legal sciences.
  • Also, good knowledge of the context and challenges for the areas of experience of the project.
  • Likewise, knowledge of the Administrative and Financial Rules of the Office
  • Moreover, level of Instruction valued as an advantage: Master in social sciences or international relations

Experience

  • A minimum of two years of demonstrable professional experience in planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation activities of development cooperation programs and/or projects.
  • Also, knowledge and experience of United Nations interagency work and reform of the United Nations system.

Languages

  • Excellent Spanish language professed and advanced level of English, oral and written.
  • Proven ability to use text processing software, spreadsheets and email.
  • Also, ability to use other software packages required by the unit of work.
