The European Meteorological Society (EMS) announces the photography competition Europhotometeo 2024 (EPM2024), The Asociación Meteorológica Española (AME) and the EMS work together to oversee The 2024 Europhotometeo photography competition.
Whoever wants to join is welcome to enter the competition. One photo, taken by the author submitting the work, may be submitted by each author. AME will only accept digital images taken in 2022 or 2023 that are specifically related to clouds or other meteorological phenomena. Please include a brief explanation of your photo in the English language when submitting an entry, together with information about the original resolution, technical specifications, location and time of the photo’s capture, and the nation.
It is the duty of each participant to guarantee that every photo entered was taken with consent from the subject(s), venue(s), or location and does not violate any third party’s copyright or an individual’s right to their own image. The author alone bears all liability for any infringement; the EMS is not liable. The Europhotometeo competition will suspend any photos taken in Russia or Belarus by writers who reside in these nations, in line with other art competitions. Until violent activities are resolved peacefully, such pictures won’t be evaluated.
During the first round of selection, a pre-selection committee made up of volunteers from EMS Member Societies and Associate Members will assess all accepted entries. After March 1, 2024, the images with the best scores will be on display at the EMS public gallery. The amount of photos that will be shown in the photo gallery will be determined at the sole discretion of the organising committee.
The top ten entries will be chosen in the second and final selection phase by a jury made up of the presidents of each EMS member society and every member of the EMS Council. The verdict rendered by the jury will stand and cannot be overturned.
