BA Leverhulme Small Research Grants 2025 | Up to £10,000
The British Academy (BA) is now accepting applications for the 2025 Leverhulme Small Research Grants—one of its most competitive and prestigious funding schemes. Designed to support primary research in the humanities and social sciences, this program is open to postdoctoral and equivalent researchers based in the UK. Supported through a public-private partnership involving the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), the Leverhulme Trust, and the Wellcome Trust, these grants provide essential funding for individual or collaborative research projects.
Researchers can apply for up to £10,000 to cover direct research expenses such as travel, fieldwork, research assistance, workshops, consumables, and more. Projects may run for a maximum of 24 months, with start dates between 22 September 2025 and 28 March 2026. UK-based scholars must lead the project, but international collaborations are welcome.
Whether you’re planning a new project or expanding ongoing work, this scheme offers an excellent opportunity to ease your research funding burden. Given its high demand and broad institutional reach—supporting researchers across nearly 100 UK institutions—don’t miss your chance to apply.
