BGE Energizing Small Business Grants 2025 for U.S. Businesses (up to $20,000)

The BGE Energizing Small Business Grant Program, presented in partnership with Hello Alice and the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), is designed to provide vital support to small businesses in central Maryland. This initiative aims to help local entrepreneurs succeed and thrive by offering grants, resources, and networking opportunities. By addressing the unique challenges small business owners face, the program focuses on fostering economic growth, innovation, and sustainability within the region. In addition to financial assistance, participants gain access to mentorship and business development support, enabling them to expand their businesses and contribute to the growth of the local economy.

BGE is Maryland’s largest natural gas and electric utility, providing safe and reliable energy delivery to more than 1.3 million electric customers and more than 680,000 natural gas customers in central Maryland. The company was founded in 1816 as the nation’s first gas utility and remains headquartered in Baltimore City to this day.

• Eligible businesses located in BGE’s service area can apply for BGE Energizing Small Business Grants of $20,000.

Eligibility for BGE Energizing

Applicants must be a for-profit business and an existing BGE electric and/or gas customer in good standing with BGE. Other eligibility criteria include:

• Be a for-profit business that has been operating for at least one (1) year at the start of the application.
• In good standing (or on the way to) with the State of Maryland.
• A maximum of twenty-five (25) full-time employees.
• Annual gross revenues in 2024 of less than $7 million USD.
• Demonstrated need for funding to support business and serve customers.

Application

If you applied and were not selected for a previous round of the program, you are welcome to submit a new application. They will evaluate your application based on any new information and judge it against a new pool of applicants! The deadline for this round is June 13, 2025, at 6 p.m. ET.
