Since 2004, Embracing Our Differences has used the power of art and prose to promote inclusion, kindness and respect. One way accomplish this is through the annual international art Competition in Sarasota’s Bayfront Park. The juried exhibit consists of 50 billboard-sized works of art, each accompanied by an inspirational quote.
50 billboard-sized artworks, each spanning 16 feet (4.88 metres) in width by 12.5 feet (3.81 metres) in height, are shown. Local, national, and worldwide artists have created these pieces, which represent their interpretations of the theme, “embracing our differences.” The exhibit will be on display mid-January through April at multiple locations in Southwest Florida. Since 2004, the exhibit has hosted over 4.3 million visitors, in addition to 587,395 students via our education programs, for a very unique opportunity to experience the importance of inclusion, kindness, and respect in our lives.
The ultimate choices will be selected according to their creative brilliance and unique interpretation of our theme, “embracing our differences.” Just as an example, this could involve any one or more of the following: The topics that you feel further our theme of “embracing our differences” are appearance, racial differences, physical or mental impairment, language, religious or cultural differences, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation or identity, gender identity, positive attitude, inclusivity, acceptance, taunting, bullying, and confrontation, human rights and equality, understanding and kindness, empowerment, Holocaust awareness, and etc. Do not let these recommendations limit you.
