Applications are open for UNESCO Skills in Action Photo Competition 2019. The orientation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) towards the world of work and the acquisition of employability skills means that it is well placed to address global issues and promote sustainable development. Whether acquired at school or in the workplace, everyday people across the globe are using their TVET skills to make the world a better place. Additional, We want you to capture interesting moments when skills are in action, showing how TVET and skills development can contribute to one of the following:

Moreover, The goals of the award are to:

  • Raise awareness on the benefits of TVET
  • Further, Promote TVET as a means to tackle global challenges such as poverty, youth unemployment also, inequality
  • Reward young people’s efforts to promote sustainable development in their communities by acquiring skills and putting them into practice
  • Allow UNESCO-UNEVOC to develop a Photo Library that can be used to promote TVET through various communication and publication projects.

Benefit

The winners of the #SkillsInAction Photo Competition will receive the following prizes:

  • 1st prize – 500 USD
  • 2nd prize – 300 USD
  • 3rd prize – 150 USD

Winning photographs and finalists will receive a certificate and their entries will be featured on the UNESCO-UNEVOC website also, its social media platforms in celebration of #WYSD (World Youth Skills Day).

Eligibility

You are welcome to participate as long as:

  •  at least 18 years old.
  • Further, you are the owner or copyright holder of the photo entry/entries.
  • Encouraging youth employment and entrepreneurship – photos of youth demonstrating their skills on the job.
  • Further, Promoting TVET for all – photos highlighting access to TVET for everyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or disability.
  • TVET for green societies – photos showing how skilled young people can apply their knowledge. Further, expertise to create more sustainable practices in the world of work.
  • Promoting Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and digital skills – photos showing how ICTs and digital skills can improve widespread access of young people to TVET and prepare them for the jobs of the future.
