Do you have photography skills? Whether you are an amateur or professional, don’t miss your chance to enter the UNESCO – UNEVOC #SkillsinAction International Photography Competition! This competition is organized as part of the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre’s activities to mark World Youth Skills Day 2019.

The orientation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) towards the world of work and the acquisition of employability skills means that it is well placed to address global issues and promote sustainable development. Whether acquired at school or in the workplace, everyday people across the globe are using their TVET skills to make the world a better place.

The goals of the award are to:

  • Raise awareness on the benefits of TVET
  • Promote TVET as a means to tackle global challenges such as poverty, youth unemployment, and inequality
  • Reward young people’s efforts to promote sustainable development in their communities by acquiring skills and putting them into practice
  • Allow UNESCO-UNEVOC to develop a Photo Library to promote TVET through various communication and publication projects.

What prizes does the winner of #SkillsinAction International Photography Competition get?

The winners of the #SkillsInAction Photography Competition will receive the following prizes:

  • 1st prize – 500 USD
  • 2nd prize – 300 USD
  • 3rd prize – 150 USD

Furthermore, the winning photographs and finalists will receive a certificate.  Also, UNESCO-UNEVOC  will feature the entries on its website and social media platforms in celebration of #WYSD (World Youth Skills Day).

Who can Participate in the International Photography Competition?

Everyone all around the world can participate in the UNESCO – UNEVOC  International Photography Competition. However, to participate, the candidates must be over 18 years of age. Further, the photography competition doesn’t bar citizens from a particular nation to enter. Hence, anyone can enter the international photography competition.

Further, to enter the International Photography Competition, the candidates must produce their own work, so as not to infringe any copyrights issue. Hence, all the submission a candidate makes must be a photograph they own.

How Can I Enter the UNESCO-UNEVOC Photography Competition?

#SkillsinAction competition should highlight interesting moments during Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Hence to enter the Photography competition, the entrants must submit their photographs along with the submission form.

Moreover, the entrants must adhere to the following rules:

  • All photos should have a title, a brief paragraph (100 words)explaining the context of the photo and a short biography introducing yourself.
  • All photos should be in jpeg format. The longer side should be at least 3,000 pixels. The entrants may digitally manipulate the photos slightly and state the nature of manipulation.
  • Fill up the submission form with personal information and details about the photographs.
  • Entrants must print the form and sign it to validate their understanding of the term of reference.
  • Lastly, they should take a photograph of their form and send it via email along with the photographs.

Deadline

UNESCO-UNEVOC International photography competition is open for submission until 7 June 2019. However, entrants making their submission after the deadline are not eligible for the competition.
