Swedish AI Fund (SAIF) is an NGO with the purpose of providing financial aid, grants, and scholarships globally. SAIF provides the fund to those who are working, researching, and/or involved in the AI industry toward equality, safety, and security in the field of AI.

In 2022, SAIF is funding 100 million Swedish Krona (approx. Euro 10 million) globally.  SAIF is expanding fast to reach more countries.

Benefits:

• This fund is available in different forms in limited amounts for specific purposes as non-equity micro-seed grants by the SAIF network partners.
• The initial fund being distributed in this Africa call is Euro 96,000.
• In addition to being a recipient of the fund, members of the SAIF network are eligible to be part of the board of trustees which decides the amount, channels, and distribution of the funds.
• Moreover, it takes no fee or equity from you.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to receive funds from SAIF, you need to apply through SAIF’s official partners as well as for the initial Africa funding call this is via The AI Media Group. Also,  seeking to fund companies based in Africa primarily at the pre-seed stage who have developed solutions and services that leverage AI.

1. It takes 10-15 minutes to complete an application which is essentially an online “pitch” for funding.
2. SAIF will review your application and pass it on to the relevant investors or grant-awarding body.
3. You will be notified of a match within 10 working days of submission
4. Thereafter, follow-up instructions on the next steps and or introductions will be made.
5. If there is a successful investment SAIF will also provide you with free publicity via the AI Media social media/news platforms.

If you don’t hear back, it just means you didn’t meet the criteria of specific investors or grant-awarding partners.
