What will the Data Scientist Intern do at Amazon?
A Data Scientist intern on this team must be comfortable working with large volumes of data and be able to manipulate data using a variety of tools. The ideal candidate possesses good knowledge and set of hard skills across both predictive (machine learning) and prescriptive (optimization) analytics. Our customers are as different as the problems they would like to see solved, and the Data Scientist must be able to deal with ambiguity and shifting goals. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
What qualification do you need for an Amazon Data Scientist Internship?
- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science; Machine Learning; Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of relevant academic research or industry experience in predictive modeling, data science, and analysis
- Track record of applying the scientific method to solve problems by forming hypotheses and testing them through well-documented and reproducible experiments
- Proficiency in Python, with the ability to write clear, concise, explainable, testable, production-ready code
- Demonstrated expertise in more than one data science discipline (statistics/econometrics; time series forecasting, field experiments, machine learning; deep learning, Bayesian methods, stochastic modeling, operations research)
- Strong knowledge of SQL and of relational database systems and concepts
- Strong written as well as verbal communication skills
