In the immediate aftermath of a disaster or conflict, and throughout the transition from emergency response to recovery and sustainable development, Save the Children’s presence in 120 countries facilitates the rapid delivery of evidence-based and innovative health and nutrition interventions that address the major causes of illness and death among the world’s most vulnerable populations. As such, Save the Children US offers an internship at Emergency Health & Nutrition team

The Emergency Health and Nutrition (EHN) team at Save the Children US works closely with colleagues in the development sector of Health & Nutrition as well as with colleagues in Humanitarian Response, both within the US team and with other Members in multiple countries allowing the intern to gain exposure to many different facets of the organization. The intern or fellow will work under the supervision of the EHN Program Coordinator and will primarily focus on activities related to research, knowledge management, program coordination, and logistical/administrative support.

What will the Emergency Health & Nutrition Intern do at Save the Children?

Save the Children Internship at Emergency Health & Nutrition team will require interns to assist with several tasks including

  •  Assist the EHN team with projects that come up, which could range from writing research and communications reports, editing/assisting with the development of training documents, or supporting international meetings.
  •  Work on the team’s evolving portfolio at the global, regional as well as country levels including reviewing grant proposals and reports, supporting follow-up communications with our field-based staff, performing desk reviews, etc.
  •  Attend webinars and brown bags to learn more about Save the Children’s ongoing emergency work as well as identify opportunities for linkages with EHN team projects.
  •  Further, improve knowledge management within the team and across the organization including maintaining our technical toolkits, developing briefers and factsheets, and assisting with webinars and presentations to promote EHN work internally and externally.
  • Also, assist the Program Coordinator with tracking the team’s travel and any other administrative tasks as needed.

What do you need for Emergency Health & Nutrition Internship?

Prospective interns for Emergency Health & Nutrition Internship at Save the Children will require meet the standards which include:

  • Must be an actively enrolled undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate student or have graduated within 6 months of start date.
  • Likewise, be studying for a degree in Public Health or a related field.
  • Further, demonstrate an interest in Public Health and Humanitarian Assistance.
  • Strong written as well as oral communication skills, solid interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, ability to work within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Experience with basic data analysis is desirable.
  • Also, currently eligible to work in the U.S.
