Friedrich Ebert Stiftung is open for Internships program in Washington DC. International students may apply for an internship position. Further, this internship is a commitment of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung to help students and BA graduates develop particular sets of skills.  Moreover, FES is a political foundation that focuses on the core ideas and values of social democracy.

Who is Eligible for Fredrich Ebert Internships?

To be eligible for Friedrich Ebert Internships, candidates must be fluent in English as well as German. Further, they must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the internship program.

  • Subject-specific studies with a completed undergraduate degree or at least five semesters of BA study.
  • Advanced social media skills enabling FES DC media coverage
  • BA students turn to Cultural Vistas, an American non-profit organization that can help them get the visa.
  • Applicants also turn to GIZ after the pledge, which also grants scholarships to cover any visa costs. The 26th birthday may not be completed when applying for a scholarship.
  • In principle, FES assumes no costs and does not pay for the internship.
  • FES assumes no liability for any accidents or damages in connection with the internship.
  • The conclusion of necessary insurance (eg health insurance, liability insurance and possibly accident insurance) is the responsibility of the applicants.

How to apply for Friedrich Ebert Internships?

To apply for the Friedrich Ebert Internships, applicants must contact the FES Washington via e-mail at an early stage. Further, the students should also submit the documents containing the following documents (German or English).

  • A CV with a passport photo
  • Letter of motivation (Why would you like to do an internship at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Washington?)
  • Subject areas that you are particularly interested in
  • The desired period for the internship, at least two / max. three months!

Application Deadlines

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung accepts the application for the Internship program in Washington DC for two deadlines. For the internship beginning from January 2020 to June 2020, one can apply for the internship by the end of September 2019. While if the students want to take an internship for September-December 2020 window, they may apply by the end of April 2020. However, there are no internships available for the duration between July and August.
