UNICEF is currently looking for a suitable candidate to undertake a part-time internship program to support the Inclusive Education project in Azerbaijan. This UNICEF Internship to Support the Inclusive Education Project in Azerbaijan is a paid position. The intern will be contributing to the project funded by the European Union and implemented by UNICEF in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. Moreover, this internship is a great experience for students to get engaged with field experience and practical skills in the area of inclusive and quality education. Furthermore, the position will report to the Education Specialist and the Inclusive Education Consultant of UNICEF Azerbaijan.

Project Summary 

The aim of the project is to create an environment in which children with disabilities can obtain increased access to quality education in regular schools across the country through strengthening skills of teachers and schools and addressing public misperceptions and attitudes towards inclusion of children with disabilities. Furthermore, the project is implemented in Baku, Ağcabədi, Qazax, Gəncə, Quba, Şəki, Sumqayıt, and Abşeron and aims to train 10,000 primary school and 300 university teachers on inclusive education and open 9 Resource Centers in the general public schools in Baku and other target regions to support inclusive education practices.

Responsibilities 

The intern will provide support to the Education team and teachers to implement the Screening of Children with Difficulties in Learning at 34 schools in Baku and other regions. In particular, the role will do the following tasks

  • Collecting data on the results of the Screening process from the target schools, verifying the data accuracy and consolidate information, data and records into the provided database and records management system.
  • Providing guidance and support to the teachers and schools implementing the screening process with regards to the requirements of the process;
  • Identifying and also reporting on identified good practices, challenges and lessons learned to the relevant UNICEF staff.
  • Furthermore, undertaking file process-related documents and archives as required.

Requirements 

  • Candidates must be pursuing an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree program or have graduated within the past two years in the area of education, social sciences or any other relevant field.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Candidates must have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records;
  • No any immediate relatives of a candidate must be(e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office;
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Azerbaijani languages. Similarly, excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team with tight deadlines as well as good IT skills.
  • Furthermore, any previous experience in project administration and data collection is an asset.

Stipend/Compensation

This UNICEF internship is a paid position. Candidates undertaking this UNICEF internship in Azerbaijan will be eligible for the stipend. UNICEF in line with UN rules and regulations will determine the stipend amount.
