Apply for Forest Research Internship World Resources Institute in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. The Forest Research Intern is expected to work at WRI Indonesia regional office in Pekanbaru, Riau, however remote working is acceptable with certain arrangements.

The candidate will

  • Be largely involved in assisting data preparation and quality control (spatial and non-spatial data) for forest-based livelihood initiatives or other project implementation in Riau as assigned, while also provide assistance in conducting fieldwork and finalizing analyses/report/documents as assigned.
  • Contribute to, but not limited to, powerful data analysis and visualization for Riau Tree Adoption development as well as other livelihood projects, including forest-based handicraft, honeybee, and ecotourism development.
  • Report directly to Riau Senior Program Lead while also working closely with Research and Forest Based Livelihood Analyst and other WRI regional Riau team.

Learning Outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • Freshly graduated student or senior undergraduate in bachelor’s degree preferably from forestry, biology, landscape architecture, agriculture, and natural resources management studies).
  • Willingness to learn on social forestry and forest-based livelihood related topics.
  • Familiarity on spatial data processing and analysis (ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • High attention to details, well organized, and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, working with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized thinker with an ability to juggle multiple priorities, handle assignments independently, and work under tight deadlines.
  • High integrity and passion for sustainable development.
