The Young Citizens Forum (formerly the Young Leaders Forum) is an inclusive program designed to address social, economic, and political challenges at local, regional, and global levels. It provides a platform for talented and engaged young individuals, including all activists, who are committed to promoting social justice and democracy.
Since its inception in 2000, the program has been running in Tanzania and has cultivated a strong network of over 500 alumni, many of whom now hold key leadership positions nationwide. The program is hosted at the FES office in Dar es Salaam, with sessions taking place over two to three days each month for 5 months.
Participants gather for 2-3 days each session between May and November at the FES Office in Dar es Salaam. The sessions address a wide range of topics and skills, including essential communication, design thinking, social justice, urbanization, the global economy, and just transition. Participants engage directly in these sessions, which also include community visits to apply what they have learned. Some sessions are conducted online.

Applications closes on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 11:55 PM (EAT). Successful applicants will be notified on March 17 to conduct the eligibility tests, which will take place on the April 3-4, 2025 for Mainland applicants and April 8, 2025 for Zanzibar applicants.
