Details

Fully Funded Glasgow Humanitarian Scholarships aim at international students who are not able to afford higher education due to financial challenges. The University of Glasgow is offering 4 fully funded Humanitarian scholarships (one per college) for applicants to the University who are staying in the UK on humanitarian grounds. The scholarship is open to prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University of Glasgow applying for entry in 2019. The scholarship meets the full cost of tuition fees for the duration of your programme. As well as it will provide an additional £4,000 per year stipend if the applicants meet the eligibility criteria for university accommodation for the duration of your degree.

Additionally, Glasgow Humanitarian Scholarship also extends to students who hold refugee status. The University Of Glasgow is providing an additional Four (4) fully funded scholarships for refugees in the UK for the same Humanitarian grounds. The humanitarian scholarships for refugees also provide fully funded tuition waiver at the University of Glasgow. Further, the refugee scholars will obtain a £5,000 per year stipend toward living costs per year of study.

Value

The Glasgow Humanitarian Scholarship provides:

  • Full tuition fee waiver for the duration of the study
  • Further, £4,000 per year stipend. However, for students in refugee status, the scholarship provides a stipend of £5000 per year stipend towards living costs per year of study
  • Also, Accommodation costs for the duration of the study. However, the candidates may only apply for University of Glasgow accommodation.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must

  • Hold a firm conditional or unconditional offer for study at the University of Glasgow for 2019/20; and
  • Further, have submitted, or are the dependant of someone who has submitted, an application to the UK Home Office for recognition as a Refugee under the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees (hereafter “The Convention”) and not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application; or
  • have been offered leave to remain in the UK on the grounds of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights or under Paragraphs 276ADE – 276DH of the UK Immigration Rules, provided that the student has not become eligible for Student Support from the relevant student funding body in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Number of scholarships

There are Eight (8) Fully Funded University of Glasgow Humanitarian Scholarship available for international students. Among these eight scholarships, Four (4) scholars will receive the fully funded scholarship on Humanitarian grounds while the other Four (4) scholarships are available for students who have Refugee status

How to apply

Eligible applicants must complete the online application form. Once you submit your application online, you must also email copies of the following documents in support of your application. This will confirm your immigration status in compliance with UK legislation.

If you are subject to Home Office Temporary Admission/Immigration Bail Reporting, please provide your:
•           Application Registration Card (ARC) or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) – front and back
•           Immigration  Bail Reporting Notice (this may also be referred to as a Temporary Admission Document or BAIL 201). Please include every page of this document.

If you are not subject to Home Office Temporary Admission/Immigration Bail Reporting, please provide your:
•           Application Registration Card (ARC) or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) – front and back
•           The most recent documentation you have received from the Home Office in conjunction with your application/appeal – this should show your Home Office reference number.

Deadline

All applicants should submit their application by 30th June 2019. The outcomes of their application will be available around mid-July.
