Summary

The Office of the General Counsel “(OGC”) Health Sciences Center (“HSC”) Law Fellowship was created to support and promote career advancement to those interested in leadership and legal issues facing major research universities and academic medical centers, including but not limited to advancing health law policy, public health, privacy, HIPAA and other regulatory and compliance matters, transactional issues, new legislation and amendments to existing legislation impacting health care policy, medical liability and informed consent issues, health economics, bioethics and a wide range of issues relating to research, clinical practice and human trials.

The HSC Law Fellowship grants legal access to Tulane University’s Health Sciences Center, providing an unparalleled opportunity to work closely with OGC attorneys on the university’s downtown campus. Under the guidance and supervision of licensed attorneys, the law fellow will assume responsibility for a diverse range of legal matters and conduct important health care-related legal research.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited law school within the last year, including Spring 2021.
  • Strong legal research, analysis and writing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, and prioritize work assignments
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed
