Research Fellowship at Michigan Medicine in the United States of America. The University of Michigan Medical School has the position open for Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. The fellow must have previous basic science experience in energy metabolism who is energetic, enthusiastic and enjoys collaborative and independent science.

Michigan Medicine is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual in this research fellowship to study the role of gut endocrine cells in the regulation of food intake, glucose, and lipid metabolism. The candidate should have excellent commutation skills, and be a self-motivated, quick learner, and most importantly a team player. The successful applicant will be supported to attend conferences based on his/her progress and to obtain the fellowship.

Responsibilities

Candidates undertaking this Michigan Medicine Research Fellowship will engage in the following lines of duties

  • Microsurgical techniques (ICV cannulation and injection, laparotomy). Applicant must be comfortable with rodent surgery with little training.
  • Molecular biology experiments (genetics, epigenetics, proteomics) and techniques (Cre/LoxP, CRISPR/Cas9).
    Cell culture techniques (maintaining established lines, cell transfection).
  • Handling and managing animals (mice and rats, isolating tissues and sectioning, immunofluorescent staining, in situ hybridization).
  • Data obtaining and analysis. Manuscript preparation.
  • Assisting PI to manage the lab and applying for funding.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD, or PhD/MD with at least two of the following research experiences: molecular cloning, genetic engineering techniques (Cre/LoxP, CRISPR/Cas9), neuroanatomical methods (immunofluorescent staining, in situ hybridization), analysis of metabolic phenotypes, and surgical techniques (ICV cannulation and injection, laparotomy).
  • Ability to work and troubleshoot independently.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
