The American University in Cairo invites application for scholarships from Saudi Arabian and Egyptian Students pursuing undergraduate studies in the University. The Abdulhadi H. Taher Endowed Scholarships provide full or partial support to students who demonstrate financial need and outstanding academic performance. The fund also provides housing for Saudi Arabian students or Egyptian students who live outside Cairo and Giza.

Founded in 1919, American University Cairo (AUC) is a leading English-language, American-accredited institution of higher education and center of the intellectual, social and cultural life of the Arab world located in Egypt. Moreover, its community of students, parents, faculty and staff, trustees, alumni, and other generous sponsors represent more than 60 countries. In addition, the University stands as a crossroads for the world’s cultures and a vibrant forum for reasoned argument, spirited debate, and understanding across the diversity of languages, facilities as well as human experiences.


The Saudi Arabian and Egyptian students who are successful to receive the scholarships will receive

  • Full or partial waiver in tuition and fees.
  • Dorm coverage for either Saudi Arabian applicants or Egyptian applicants living outside Cairo and Giza.


  • Hold the Egyptian or the Saudi Arabian nationality.
  • Likewise, Enroll in Thanaweya Amma in AY 2018-2019 or its equivalent in other certificates.
  • Further, Meet AUC’s admission requirements.
  • Similarly, Achieve a score of not less than 97% in the science section and 94 % in the arts section in Thanaweya Amma or its equivalent in other certificates.
  • Also, Demonstrate financial need.
  • Must pass either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 6 and writing score of 6 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 76 and writing score of 20


Saudi Arabian and Egyptian Students must apply for the scholarships before the deadline. Only eligible students will be selected for the further screening process. You may apply for the scholarships by filling up the online application form and submitting the required documents.


Egyptian and Saudi Arabian students may apply for the scholarships by no later than June 13, 2019. Any application post deadline will be are null and void.
