Google has initiated the google research scholar program 2022 specifically to support by funding early-career professors pursuing research in their respected field relevant to google. 

Eligibility 

• A full-time assistant, associate, or full professor at a university or degree-granting research institution.
• Have received PhD in 2014 or later 
• Have applied less than three times within seven years of post PhD

Professors around the globe are eligible to apply for this funding. However, Faculty can only serve as a PI or Co-PI per round. Applicants cannot submit two separate proposals.

In spite of applicants teaching seven years or fewer and having delays, they can still apply by submitting this exception request with their application.

Furthermore, the fund provided is not intended for overhead or indirect costs of the university. In fact, it is solely provided to support the advanced research of the professor.

In addition, the participant should also note that there can only be a part of a project as a PI or co.PI and cannot submit two proposals in a year.

Funding Amount

Google provides grants up to $60,000 to the applicant’s university to support the advancement of professors’ research. The funding should be used during the academic year by the professor to support their research.

Initially, proposals are selected through an internal review process. Afterwards, applicants are notified about their proposal status within four months of the initial submission.
