The First Pages Prize 2021 (US$2,000)

Applications are open for First Pages Prize supports 2021. The First Pages Prize supports un-agented writers worldwide with an annual prize for the first 5 pages of a longer work of fiction or creative nonfiction. The rise of societies and nations is attained through investing in people’s brains and encouraging scientific research, culture, and innovation. Thus, Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation (AHSF) has been investing for the last 35 years in motivating and encouraging more research as well as scientific, technological, and social innovation, towards a sustainable economic and social impact. We – at AHSF – believe that cooperation amongst research institutions in the public and private sectors, is one of the enablers that strengthens the status of scientific research, and magnifies its impact on the Arab world.

Summary

It is the first Award of its kind dedicated for scientific research and to honor Arab researchers since 1982. The award aims to support and highlight scientific research throughout the Arab world as it is awarded in recognition of distinguished scientific outcome of scientific and social value.

The award targets Arab researchers who have conducted multiple types of research in an Arab country in one of the following 6 fields: Medical and Health Sciences; Engineering Sciences; Basic Sciences; Literature and Humanitarian, Social and Educational Sciences; Economics and Administration Sciences, and Agriculture and Technology. Each year, two topics under each field are selected as award themes, with 12 awards, each amounting to $20,000.

The Yeovil Literary Prize 2021

The Yeovil Literary Prize is an international writing competition that opens on 1st January 2021, and some changes are taking place. The Yeovil Literary Prize 2021 has four categories:

  • Novel: Maximum of 15,000 words, including synopsis and opening chapters.
  • Short Story: Maximum of 2,000 words.
  • Poetry: Maximum of 40 lines.

The World Habitat Awards 2021

Applications are open for World Habitat Awards 2021. Moreover, World Habitat Awards recognize and highlight innovative, outstanding and sometimes revolutionary housing ideas, projects and programmes from across the world.

CVCEPHOTO International Mountain Activity Photo Contest

Applications are open for CVCEPHOTO 2021. CVCEPHOTO is the International Mountain Activity Photo Contest organized by Club Vasco de Camping Elkartea, a mountaineering club from San Sebastian. Each participant may submit a maximum of 3 photographs. There won´t be accepted any photos previously submitted to this contest.

Only pictures taken by digital cameras are accepted. The RAW digital format of the submitted images must be available. Participants must warrant that the submitted photographs are an original work created solely by the entrant and that he or she owns the copyright of the work that is being presented. CVCEPHOTO takes as granted that the participant has the authorization and/or the permission of the persons that appear in the photographs submitted to the contest.

iPhone Photography Awards 2021

Entries are open worldwide to photographers using an iPhone or iPad for iPhone Photography Awards 2021. Photos should not be published previously anywhere. The posts on personal accounts (Facebook, Instagram etc.) are eligible. The photos should not be altered in any desktop image processing program such as Photoshop. It is OK to use any IOS apps.

The use of any iPhone is permissible. iPhone add-on lenses can be used. In some cases, IPPAWARDS may ask the original image to verify that it’s taken with an iPhone, iPad. The photos that can not be verified are disqualified. The submissions must be in the original size or not smaller than 1000 pixels in either height or width.
