The UNDP invites application for the Policy research and SDG Integration Internship. The United Nations Development programme is the UN’s global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. SDG Integration is at the core of UNDP’s Global Policy Network (GPN), which is leveraged and engaged in the delivery of integrated support to countries on implementation and monitoring of the 2030 Agenda. UNDP’s offer on SDG integration is anchored on four key enabling services areas, including Integrated Policy Solutions; SDG data, metrics, and analytics; Knowledge and Innovation; and SDG finance. The SDG Integration team works closely with the Strategic Policy Engagement team to mobilize partnerships and drive research on innovative policy solutions and approaches to an integrated support on the SDGs.

Moreover, Policy research and SDG Integration Internship will focus on (a) helping develop and pilot new approaches for delivering integrated support to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda; and (b) supporting research on a broad range of sustainable development issues, including the impact of disruptive global trends and opportunities of the fourth industrial revolution for developing countries.

What will Policy research and SDG Integration do in UNDP?

The intern’s main tasks will include one or more of the following:

  • Contributing background research on the development and prototyping of UNDP’s new service offer for integrated support to countries on the implementation of the SDGs;
  • Supporting a mapping of disruptive trends against the SDGs as well as helping assess their impact on the SDGs;
  • Providing research support on analyzing the impact of the technological innovations of the fourth industrial revolution and changing geopolitical dynamics on labor markets and development opportunities in developing countries;
  • Likewise, supporting the development of policy papers, studies, reports, briefing notes, and speeches, as requested by the supervisor;
  • Providing support in the organization of workshop and events, including related to the 2019 UN General Assembly.

What do you need for Policy research and SDG Integration Internship at UNDP?

To qualify for an internship with the UNDP Internship program, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or Master’s level or equivalent); or
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation from an academic program.
  • Moreover, applicants who are unable to commence the internship within one year of graduation are not eligible.
  • Fluency of English (both written and spoken) is desirable. Additionally, knowledge of French and Spanish is also desirable.

How to apply for an Internship at the UNDP?

Applicants may apply for the UNDP internship by submitting the online application. Further, the applicants will require a recent CV and cover letter to apply for the internship. Also, the interns may submit a relevant portfolio and documentation.

Interns, however, should note that they may submit only one PDF file via the online application portal. Hence, the applicants must merge all documents into one PDF file before uploading.

Deadline

Applicants may apply for the Policy research and SDG Integration at UNDP until 09 August 2019. UNDP will not accept any more application after the past the deadline.
