UNDP is the knowledge frontier organization for sustainable development in the UN Development System and serves as the integrator for collective action to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within the GPN, the Crisis Bureau guides UNDP’s corporate crisis-related strategies and vision for crisis prevention, response, and recovery. The Bureau has the responsibility for support to prevention, crisis response, resilience and recovery work under the auspices of UNDP’s Strategic Plan. Moreover, the Crisis Bureau at UNDP invites application for crisis management tool internship.

The Internship at the Crisis Bureau, UNDP is for the duration of one month with the possibility of extension of up to 3 months. Moreover, the internship is available at the UNDP office in New York, USA, where the internship will begin from 1 August 2019.

What will the Intern do at UNDP Crisis Bureau?

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist, Rapid Response and Preparedness and in close collaboration with the Programme Analyst, the intern will perform the responsibilities as follows:

• Support the restructuring and expansion of UNDP’s Crisis Portal, including:
  • Updating and reviewing new content for the portal.
  • Contributing to ideas for new content and for optimizing the user experience of the portal.
  • Follow-up with colleagues in various Crisis Bureau teams to collect documentation as well as content for upgraded and/or new sections of the portal.
• Updating (tagging and populating) the portal document library with specific crisis related resources.
• Support knowledge systematization efforts on relevant UNDP crisis preparedness and response tools
• Prepare and/organize content/material for UNDP training.
• Perform other duties as requested

What qualification do you need for UNDP Crisis Bureau Internship?

To qualify for an internship with the UNDP Internship program, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• Be in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
• Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
• Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation from an academic program.
• Moreover, applicants who are unable to commence the internship within one year of graduation are not eligible.
• The University degree must be in the area of communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or in a related field.
• Further, applicants do not require having professional working experience for participation in the UN Internship Program
• Fluency of English (both written and spoken) is desirable. Additionally, knowledge of French and Spanish is also desirable.

Applicants may apply for the UNDP internship by submitting the online application. Further, the applicants will require a recent CV and cover letter to apply for the internship. Also, the interns may submit a relevant portfolio and documentation.

Interns, however, should note that they may submit only one PDF file via the online application portal. Hence, the applicants must merge all documents into one PDF file before uploading.
