Call for Nominations: Roux Prize 2021. Nominations are now open for the 2021 Roux Prize. The Roux Prize was created in 2013 to honor individuals or groups from around the world who have used health evidence in bold, innovative, and impactful ways.

The prize recognizes the person who has used health evidence in bold ways to make people healthier – and to highlight just what’s possible when visionaries use health evidence to change lives.

Award

Basically, the $100,000 Roux Prize is awarded annually by the nomination process described above.

Eligibility

  • Nominations are welcomed from across the globe. Preference is given to individuals, but groups are eligible. Self-nominations are discouraged.
  • Current full-time faculty, fellows, or employees of IHME and the University of Washington are not eligible.

The Poetry Business calls application for the International Book & Pamphlet Competition 2021. The competition remains the most established pamphlet competition in the UK.

The competition continues to discover and publish outstanding new poets, many of whom go on to publish widely and celebrate successful writing careers. Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards 2021

Applications call for Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards 2021. The Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards recognize global excellence in food innovation and community impact. There are two awards.

  • The first award recognizes a researcher, or group of researchers, who has an advanced understanding of food production, processing, distribution, consumption, safety, and/or human nutrition, with a significant positive impact on society.
  • The second award recognizes an individual, or group of individuals; who has contributed to improved nutritional health and/or food security, with a focus on strengthening disadvantaged communities.

Prizes

  • Moreover, each of the two prizes will be worth $125,000 CAD comprising a $100,000 cash award for the personal use of recipients and up to $25,000 per award for travel and accommodation of the recipients, administered by the Arrell Food Institute at the University of Guelph.
  • An award citation and a commemorative item will also be presented.
  • Recipients are expected to participate in a program of events. In particular, award recipients may be asked to attend the next Arrell Food Summit. There may also be other engagements organized, subject to mutual availability.
  • Given the current global pandemic, a determination on the travel and accommodation component of the award will be made sometime during the 2021 calendar year.

Belfast Photo Festival 2021 Open Submission. Belfast Photo Festival bestows the artists/photographers the opportunity to exhibit their work in the main Festival gallery alongside some of the biggest names in the field of photography and have their work taken on tour to be exhibited at the 2022 Photo Schwiez (Zurich, Switzerland), with a number also having the opportunity to be featured in the arts magazines Abridged and GUP. Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2021

Applications are open for Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2021. There are separate photography prizes open to adults, young photographers, and astrophotography newcomers. All entrants have a chance of winning cash prizes, seeing their image displayed in an exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, a year’s subscription to BBC Sky at Night magazine, and a copy of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year publication.

Categories

There are no separate categories in the Young competition. The Young competition will have one winner, one runner-up, and three highly commended awards. However, the adult competition will have the following categories

  • Aurorae: Photographs featuring the northern and southern lights (Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis)
  • Galaxies: Photographs of deep-space objects beyond the Milky Way galaxy, including galaxies, galaxy clusters, and stellar associations
  • Our Moon: Photographs of the Moon, including lunar eclipses and the occultation of stars and planets.
  • Our Sun: Photographs of the Sun, including solar eclipses and transits.
  • People and Space: Photographs of the night sky that include people or elements that show the presence or influence of human beings

Northwoods Wildlife Center announces the 2021 Photography Contest. This is an amateur contest. Photographers that receive greater than 25% of their annual income through photography, or consider themselves professionals, are ineligible. Watermarks on the photos are prohibited. Northwoods Wildlife Center retains the right to remove entries that are in violation of contest rules.

Ineligibities

The following situations are unethical and will be ineligible, and, if submitted, will be disqualified at NWC’s sole discretion:

  • Wildlife appears to be stressed or harassed by the photographer.
  • Nocturnal wildlife photographed with a flash at night.
  • Wildlife photographed by, or with, drones.
  • Wildlife lured with bait for the sake of a photo.
